Gourmet Paper Mache
Hey, I'm an artist not a webmaster.   These pages are under construction.  Come back. Everything should be working  soon.
Cats Dragons

It's pretty clear that I love dragons.    I'd be very happy only building them.    I also like cats.  You may have seen one of my cats, Eddy, in a couple of my videos.   I currently have three cats.   I'm not exactly sure how that happened.   I had one.  I blinked.   I had three.    Eddy is constantly underfoot particularly when I'm trying to do paper mache.   I guess all cats like paper.    I actually think that Eddie likes dragons too.   In fact, I've decided that cats and dragons have a lot in common.   I've decided to make a series of dragons that have cat characteristics.   My first attempts can be seen in the "Paper Mache Dragon Baby" video you may have already seen on the home page (I put it below as well in case you missed it).    I thought I'd use this page to detail the making of that project.  Of course you should definitely watch the Baby video if you haven't already.   You can get a pretty good idea about my paper mache techniques by watching my videos.   Thanks for looking!

Photo
2  I made some arms and legs modeled after a cat.  There is a paper mache leg under all of that masking tape.  I use it as a base in the sculpture and then embellish with paper and tape.

Photo 4  Here is final paper mache dragon scratching her eye with her hind leg.

Photo 6  Here she is with finished wings.

Paper Mache Baby Dragon Video

PHOTO 1  The most common cat characteristic I know is scratching.   I wanted my paper mache dragon scratching her eye with her hind leg.   Here is the raw beginnings of a dragon.  If you look carefully at the photo on the wall behind the dragon, you'll notice the photo I used as a guide.  Again, you can see the paper mache balls and appendages under all of the tape.

Photo 3
The hind leg is poised to scratch.   I just needed an eye.

Photo 5   Of course I wanted this dragon to have wings.   Here is the "skeleton" of the wings.

Photo 7    Now everyone knows that a mother dragon wouldn't be a mother if she didn't have babies.   I made these two for her.  Once again, I tried to incorporate cat features into the babies.   They have triangular faces and big ears, like kittens.   And the attitudes are rather kitten like I think.     You can see the making of the "kitten" on the right in the Baby video.   I've included it on this page just in case you want to watch it again.

"A Little Pride"

Here is the finished paper mache pieces.

I filmed my second attempt to connect the genres.   My video, "Parallel Paper Mache," profiled a baby lion cub and his twin dragon brother.    Watch the video on the home page or video page.
